It’s wintertime in Nashville. And albeit cold for the most part, it’s a relatively mild winter! Most boats are put up for the season, and people are looking at planning those spring and summer excursions now that the holidays have passed. It’s time to look into some of the features and benefits of our local lake scene that go beyond the obvious fishing, swimming, kayaking and whatever else you’re in to doing on our lakes. Let’s look at what’s happening just on shore.
Sam’s Bar and Grille at Old Hickory Lake
Located at Blue Turtle Bay in Old Hickory, TN, this bar and grille just happens to be rated as one of the best Sports Bars in Nashville. You can park your boat right at the Turtle Bay docks, or if the boat is put up for the season, just drive on through. Old Hickory is a quaint little town with knick knack shops and a couple great golf courses. Whether this season or next, when you’re out on Old Hickory Lake, this is a great spot to catch a beer and check the score on Sunday’s game.
Papa Turney’s BBQ at the Nashville Shores Marina
Located at the Nashville Shores Marina, Papa Turney’s BBQ joint is a staple for fishing, music and mingling. This BBQ joint encompasses lake culture in all it’s allure, and is a quick and cozy place to grab some food if you happen to be on Percy Priest Lake. We’d even call it a pretty good reason to be on Percy Priest Lake.
Riverview Restaurant and Marina
Just down Cumberland River from Cheatham Lake you’ll find a nice little joint called Riverview Restaurant and Marina. This location offers some great catfish and you have to try the blackberry wine cake. It’s a great place to go visit across the river from Ashland City proper, another hidden gem outside of the downtown Nashville scene. You’ll love the country roads getting out to the docks, just don’t let those Cheatham county cops catch you speeding!
Shipwreck Cove
Shipwreck is at Elm Hill Marina on Percy Priest. Happy hours, late night food, live music – what more can you ask for? This is a great all around venue, and little less off-the-beaten-path. It’s a great place to go and hang with friends, or to bring a date. This place has been around a long time and pretty much offers it all. If you’re looking for a classic lake joint, this place might just be your spot.
